In August 2014, an evaluation was undertaken within the grounds of the primary school by Clare Ellis of Argyll Archaeology Ltd. Within one of these trenches, a number of significant archaeological features were recorded and evaluated; these comprised a fire-pit, a pit, a posthole and a stone lined bedding trench. In January of this year, a further phase of investigations on the same site looked at three small test pit locations to assess the possibility of future development. Despite the very limited scale of these test pits, this work also produced buried remains including midden deposits, lithics and a possible stone gully. The propsects for the full excavation of the site during upcoming redevelopment are exciting.
