Fifteenth Century Coin Found in Linlithgow

This coin, a Nuremberg jeton of Dauphine type, was recovered by staff from Headland Archaeology Ltd during monitoring works conducted during the refurbishment of the Bugh Halls in Linlithgow. The coin has been dated to the 1480s - 1490s by Nicholas Holmes, the Senior Curator of Numismatics at the National Museum of Scotland. It was likely minted for the French market.
