Site ReportWoSASPIN 17865NS97SE 4 9721 7394. (NS 9721 7396) Remains of Camp (R) (Supposed Roman) OS 6" map (1854) There are traces of what has been called a Roman camp SW of Lochcote (J Stuart 1868). Its outline is much defaced, but part of the earthen bank surrounding it is still 2' high. No remains of any kind have been found. Name Book 1854 This is probably a reference to the slight remains of a small enclosrue c. 16.0m square which lies at the foot of a steep slope. It is not an antiquity and is probably no more than an old cattle pen. Visited by OS (JP) 13 August 1974 |
