This group of cup-marked stones was re-located at NGR 245703, 675453 during the course of a walkover survey conducted in advance of tree-planting at Gavinburn. It exists within dense plantation about 15-25m to the west of the forestry boundary, about 30m to the southeast of its previously recorded grid reference. The stones were all heavily overgrown with moss and roots and only one could be clearly identified as having cup-markings. Originally discovered in 1971, two subsequent visits failed to locate the site. This may be due to the fact that there is a large unmarked boulder 40 metres to the north of the stones, within the clearing for the pylon-line, which may have been a red herring for previous survey teams. In addition, the site is located very close to some rock-fall from a steep rock outcrop 20m to the south of the stones and therefore the stones may have been interpreted as fallen rock.
